Why Use a Levelling Mirror?

Even minor misalignments between your film plane and camera sensor can degrade scan sharpness and create uneven focus. The VALOI Levelling Mirror allows you to visually confirm alignment by reflecting your lens back to your camera:

1. Set up your camera scanning system with everything in place, including the film holder.
2. Place the Levelling Mirror flat on top of your setup, directly over the film holder.
3. Turn on live view or look through your viewfinder, youll see your lens reflected back at you.
4. Focus on the lens aperture and adjust your cameras pan and tilt until the centre of your lens reflection is centred in the frame.
5. If using the VALOI 360 Advancer or Adapter 104, make fine adjustments with the levelling feet.
6. Once level, remove the mirror, refocus on your film, and begin scanning with confidence.

We recommend rechecking alignment at the start of every scanning session and periodically during extended work to maintain the highest image quality.
