The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 Art lens is the world’s first f1.8 ultra-wide-angle fullframe lens. The lens is completely unique as it provides a super-fast maximum aperture of f/1.8, a feature that is usually not found on wide angle lenses, but usualy on standard and telephoto lenses. This makes the lens capable of capturing truly unique ultra wide angle scenes with insanely shallow depth of field, or a low-light buster; all thanks to its ultra-wide angle/field of view and super-fast max aperture of f/1.8.
The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM art lens provides a regular, superwide view (non-fisheye) and controls distortion through one large aspherical front element, and three smaller aspherical elements. Also found in the lens are several FLD and SLD glass elements; these elements are used to reduce chromatic aberrations and improve image quality.
This lens model features a full-frame Nikon F mount to make it compatible with Nikon’s FX full-frame and DX cropped sensor DSLR cameras.
F1.8 maximum aperture and 9-blade rounded diaphragm
The Sigma 14mm Art prime lens features a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8. When shooting at maximum aperture the lens creates wide images with a shallow depth of field, great looking bokeh thanks to a 9-bladed aperture . The fast maximum aperture also captures more light to help with low light shooting.
Low distortion 80mm precision-moulded aspherical lens
The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art lens features a large 80mm precision-moulded glass aspherical front element. This element effectively minimizes distortion, provides excellent peripheral brightness, and edge to edge sharpness.
FLD and SLD glass elements
Three FLD and four SLD low-dispersion glass elements are used to reduce chromatic aberrations and improve overall image quality.
Super multi-layer coating
A Super multi-layer coating on the lens greatly reduces flare, ghosting, and provides high-contrast for outstanding image quality.
Ideal for astrophotography
Thanks to a very fast f/1.8 aperture, full-frame coverage, and ultrawide 114.2 viewing angle (on full frame cameras); the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art is a superb tool for astrophotography.
Large HSM autofocus motor
A large HSM AF motor provides 30% more torque than standard motors. This increase in torque helps to deliver better autofocus performance than previous art lenses.
