The Leica filters for the Leica M system are made of optically pure glass, parallel plane ground and precisely annealed, so the full performance of the Leica M lenses is retained even with a filter attached. The range is purposely limited to the filters most commonly needed in photographic practice. The UVa filter primarily performs the role of protecting the front element of the lens, and can be left permanently attached.

Leicas line of series II UVa filters are designed to offer maximum protection for your lenses without impacting image quality. Manufactured to the same optical standards and with the same aluminum used in Leica M lenses, Leicas UVa II filters not only protect the front of your lens against scratches and dirt, but they also reduce the color cast normally associated with photographing in strong daylight.

All of the UVa II filters are multicoated high grade optical glass to reduce internal reflections, and are lighter than their predecessors thanks to aluminum versus brass construction.
