CineStill Xpro C-41 50D Daylight 36-Exposure 35mm Colour Negative Film
The sharpest and finest grain colour negative film in the world!
CineStill 50Daylight is an ISO 50 (EI 50/18) daylight-balanced (5500K) colour negative motion picture film stock adapted for still photography. It’s based on the original motion picture emulsion and prepped for clean and safe standard photo lab processing or Cs41 development at home. You can also process it in Cs2 chemistry for a low-contrast motion picture negative. This film is ideal for shooting in bright light with wide apertures, producing high-resolution, low-grain images.
The exposure latitude of this film surpasses most digital formats and other film stocks. You can rate it anywhere from ISO 12 to 100 without needing to push process. While the grain will remain almost invisible regardless of your exposure settings, the colour, contrast, shadow detail, and highlight rendering will vary depending on the ISO you choose. Exposing at a lower ISO will result in warmer images and more pronounced halation in highlights.
Thanks to our new manufacturing process, the shelf life of 50D is extended, and any visible artefacts after expiration are lessened. This film is designed for hybrid workflows, making it perfect for scanning. It also provides an optimal contrast curve for optical printing on RA-4 paper when processed in C-41 chemistry.
Key Features

Expiration
The new boxed CineStill film offers an extended shelf life, with fewer noticeable artefacts after expiration. For best results, store the film in the fridge and use it within 6 months of purchase. Process exposed film promptly in C-41 chemistry to maintain colour accuracy and latent image latitude. CineStill films have expiration dates printed on the packaging, typically 2 years from the manufacture date. Older batches without retail boxes or expiration dates may be fogged due to age.
Additional Notes
This emulsion was initially developed for ECN-2 motion picture processing, but it can still be processed using those steps or the CineStill Cs2 kit, producing a lower contrast negative not ideal for darkroom printing. C-41 processing, without the remjet layer, produces a denser negative with higher gamma, which is better suited for still photography. Long-term archival stability has been tested up to 9 years, with expectations somewhere between Kodachrome and most C-41 films. We will replace any roll found to be defective, though liability is limited to replacement of the original film purchased.
Storage and Handling
Load and unload the film in low light. Store unexposed film in its original sealed package in a refrigerator at 13C or lower. To prevent moisture condensation, allow refrigerated film to reach room temperature before opening. Process the film as soon as possible after shooting. Protect processed film from bright light, and store it in a cool, dry place.
