Styx drummer and session artist Todd Sucherman is a monster in the studio, having lent his mammoth chops and devilish drumming to the likes of Brian Wilson, Peter Cetera, and Michael Bolton throughout the years. As a result, Todd was looking for a cymbal that made an impression in the studio. Introducing the Sabian HH 22-inch Sessions Ride. The Sessions Ride is handcrafted from blanks of Sabian’s expressive B20 bronze. Each cymbal undergoes two rounds of artisan hand-hammering with a treatment of hand-lathing in between, creating multiple thicknesses across the cymbal’s surface. This process unlocks multiple sounds: a defined ping, a cutting bell, and a massive musical wash at full tilt. At Todd’s request, the Sessions Ride features a bell tone that is higher than the cymbal’s fundamental, which gives you added icy cut to help carry those riffs, patterns, and articulations.
